The London Region Distinctions Team invite you to an Online Advisory for those working towards their ARPS in Fine Art and Applied or Documentary (see separate booking page here for Applied and Documentary).

Attending this Advisory day will give you the opportunity to discuss your portfolio with a current panel member in a professional but friendly atmosphere.

At this particular event, we will be looking at both Images for Screen and Print submissions but obviously they will all be reviewed digitally.  (We are offering a process for you to submit a sample (max 5) of your unmouted prints (not the complete panel) for review by mail or courier).

A day open to both members and non-members of the Society, this is intended to assist anyone considering an application for a Distinction in the following categories:

What are the requirements for ARPS?

ARPS (Associate)  – You need to demonstrate a high technical competence as well as provide evidence of creative ability and the development of a personal style.  Click here to see example of the ARPS - http://rps.org/distinctions/distinction-successes/arps-galleries

Please note : You can apply direct for the ARPS without being an LRPS, but we would recommend getting an LRPS first before working towards an ARPS, unless you have considerable photographic experience. If you are not sure, it’s much better to start with the LRPS and then work towards an ARPS.

What Advice will I receive on the day?

Content and technical for the following – 

ARPS Fine Art

What is Content and technical advice? – The panel member present sits on this panel and you will be given content and technical advice face to face (via Zoom online), and will receive a copy of the comments made at a later date. 

How much does it cost?

RPS members who would like advice:  £15

Non-RPS members who would like advice:  £20

Observers (both RPS members and non-members:  £10

Before you signup for the session, please make sure you have read the Distinctions Guidelines which contain important information on requirements, categories and criteria regarding the panels. This can be downloaded from the RPS website www.rps.org/distinctions. It is advisable to bring along a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 spare images.

After you have signed up for this event, you will receive an e-mail from Mike advising you how, when and where to submit your images.  This will need to be done at least 14 days before the Advisory Day so that the Advisers have a chance to review them in advance.

Spectators:

Spectating is a very good way to learn about the distinctions system and to see the advice given. Please do not bring any of your own images to the event on the off-chance that you can receive advice. Only panels that have been booked can be assessed.
